Case Report of Malignant Degeneration in Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome

Abstract
|

|
|
Familiar polyposis of gastrointestinal tract with mucocutaneous pigmentation was first reported by Peutz in 1921. Following reemphasis by Jeghers in 1949, it became a definite clinical disease entity known as Peutz-Jeghers syndrome. It is a rare disease with about 300 cases reported. The malignant potential of polyps in Peutz-Jeghers syndrome is still a controversial subject. This is a report of our experience with one case of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome which has localized malignant change in a polyp of the jejunum.
